6/5: watchless

Two years ago I decided not to wear my watch during the summer, and it was a good change. Last year I did the same, and this year I'm continuing the trend. Today my left wrist was blissfully chronometer-free.

Yesterday I had an awesome good thing! When I was in Honolulu last month attending a professional conference, one of the presentations was about instilling a sense of hope in therapy. During the break I approached the presenter and said, "I have a story of hope" and briefly summarized how I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer after my bones had started breaking, it was in my liver and I wasn't expected to live -- 8-1/2 years ago! He asked me to write something he could use in future presentations. I promptly forgot all about it.

Yesterday I received an unexpected email from him -- he would have had to ask the conference organizers for my address -- and the message was a nice re-invitation to submit something (or not, he wished me health anyway). I sat up until 4:00 a.m. tweaking this perfectly worded story... where I get to be the heroine triumphing over cancer!
